Vervain is a common ingredient in love mixtures and protective rituals. Any part of the plant can be carried as a personal amulet. 

An infusion sprinkled around the home will ward off evil spirits and malignant forces. Vervain in also added to exorcism incenses and purification bath sachets.

Vervain aerials have been used traditionally for countless conditions, including stimulation of lactation and treatment of dysmenorrhea, kidney stones, jaundice, anxiety, gout, headache, depression, and insomnia. Used as a poultice or ointment, vervain is considered a natural remedy for bruises, skin infections, insect bites, eczema, and other skin disorders. It has also been used to alleviate sprains. Vervain is also an astringent, a bitter digestive tonic and a diuretic.

To burn as incense, place a charcoal block onto a heatproof surface and light. When lit, place a small quantity of incense onto the block and allow the aromatic scent to pervade the room, adding more if required according to personal preference.
