Griffins are mystical creatures with the head and wings of an Eagle and a body of a Lion. The lion is considered the king of the beast, while the eagle king of the birds.  The Griffin, as a hybrid of these two, inherited the qualities of both, making it very powerful, and the king, or ruler, of all creatures. Griffins were often seen as the guardians of treasure and priceless objects. In heraldry, Griffin stands for courage, leadership, and strength.

In legends and folklore, the beast guards the gold of the kings, as well as other priceless possessions.
